I had so much fun with my fantasy/castle series, I started working on a new series within the same world.
I first like to start out by typing out everything related to the subject matter of what I'm going to be working on. Materials, real world inspirations, buzz words, anything I can come up with to help me understand this world. For this project in particular I made sure from the get-go to set up a shape language that I can use to design. For me personally, I find it much easier to come up with designs when I have certain rules in place. Afterward, it's a good few hours surfing the web for as much reference as I can, you can never have too much.
Lastly, I like to come up with a quick rough topographical viewpoint of the space I want to paint. This gives me a much clearer idea in my head how the space looks and feels. Plus it's nice to have something tangible before moving into 3D.
More to come soon.
Here's the new spot for my blog. I'll be posting sketches, tutorials, random thoughts and the like. Thanks for dropping by.
